By accessing or using ClefNote ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you do not have permission to access the Service.
These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service, including music educators, band directors, and educational institutions.

ClefNote is an AI-powered platform that provides:

- Concert program building tools
- Music library management
- AI chat assistant ("Clef") for repertoire consultation
- Program generation and formatting tools
3. Account Registration and Security
3.1 Account Requirements
To use ClefNote, you must:
- Be at least 18 years old
- Be a music educator or authorized representative of an educational institution
- Provide accurate and complete registration information
- Maintain the security of your password
- Promptly update any changes to your information
3.2 Account Security
You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activities that occur under your account
- Notifying us immediately of unauthorized access
3.3 Multiple Users
Each user requires their own individual subscription. Educational institutions purchasing multiple subscriptions should contact us for institutional pricing options. Sharing account credentials is strictly prohibited and may result in account termination.
4. Subscription and Payment Terms
4.1 Subscription Service
- ClefNote is offered as an annual subscription service
- Current pricing: $250 per year
- Subscription includes access to all features for the subscription period
4.2 Billing and Renewal
- Payment is processed through Stripe
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled
- Renewal charges occur on the anniversary of your initial subscription
- We will notify you before renewal via email
4.3 Cancellation and Refunds
- You may cancel your subscription at any time
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period
- No refunds are provided for cancelled subscriptions
- You retain access to the Service until the end of your paid subscription period
- Limited refunds may be available within the first 7 days of initial purchase only (see Refund Policy)
4.4 Price Changes
We reserve the right to modify pricing with 30 days' notice. Existing subscriptions will maintain current pricing until renewal.
5. AI Services and Recommendations
5.1 Nature of AI Recommendations
IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER:
- AI recommendations are algorithmic suggestions only
- Recommendations are not professional music selection advice
- You retain full responsibility for all repertoire decisions
- AI may not account for all musical, cultural, educational, or practical considerations
- Always apply your professional judgment and expertise
5.2 AI Chat Service
- Chat conversations with "Clef" are processed by Anthropic's Claude API
- All chat messages are stored for service continuity and improvement
- Administrators may review chat conversations for quality assurance
- Do not share sensitive personal information in chat
5.3 AI Limitations
The AI system:
- May produce inaccurate or incomplete recommendations
- Cannot assess all factors relevant to your specific educational context
- Should not replace professional judgment
- May reflect biases present in training data
5.4 Continuous Improvement
We continuously work to improve AI accuracy through:
- Analysis of user interactions
- Feedback incorporation
- Algorithm updates
- Expanded music database
6. User Content and Conduct
6.1 Your Content
You retain ownership of content you upload, including:
- Music library CSV files
- Ensemble information
By uploading content, you grant us a license to use it for providing the Service.
6.2 Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Share your account credentials
- Attempt to reverse engineer the Service
- Upload malicious code or viruses
- Impersonate others
- Harass or abuse other users or staff

- You are responsible for ensuring proper licensing for performances
- Our recommendations do not constitute permission to perform copyrighted works
- Always verify performance rights through appropriate channels

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the Service for your professional or personal purposes related to music program planning.
